Home Range 

•  The area used by a specific bear is known as its home range 

  • Home ranges vary in size depending on the individual bear and on the sex of the bear.

  • Home Ranges vary from less than fifty to hundreds of square kilometers

  •  Coastal Grizzly Bears tend to have smaller home ranges than do interior Grizzlies 

  •  Home ranges of males are generally larger than those of females  

  •  In BC sow Grizzly Bears have home ranges of 25 to 200 km², and adult males have ranges of 60 to 700 km² or more
