Brown Is The Most Common Colour Of Grizzly
Bears
...But, They Aren't Always!
-
In coastal BC most Grizzlies are light to dark brown with the tips of
their fur being lighter giving them a " grizzled" look:
-
Grizzlies have light or grizzled fur on their heads and shoulders, a dark body, and even darker feet and
legs
-
In the Rockies, most
Grizzlies have a “silver tip” pattern,
with the long hairs of their shoulders and back frosted with white
-
Grizzlies shed their heavy winter coats in late spring and
early summer – then re-grow them from mid-August to October:
 |
Their coats can be affected by spring shedding,
their nutrition and the climate |
