North Shore bear sightings 2011

North Shore bear sightings 2011

Please be patient with us as I test out some new mapping procedures for our website. The goal is to eventually have a map that will be updated on a weekly basis - showing where bears have been sighted in close proximity to homes throughout the province. The data represented here is just an approximation of where the bears were seen and should be viewed as being accurate on a neighbourhood level.

Here I have loaded the information for the North Shore area. You will want to zoom in on the map and then, if you click on the bear icon, you will see if there was an attractant listed for the bear. Icons are colour coded for the primary attractants. A category of "NOT APPLICABLE" means that the bear was sighted in an area but there was not a readily identifiable attractant.

Due to the number of sightings not all of the information can be displayed at this time, but if you go to this link you will be able to see the entire map by scrolling down on the left side of the screen and choosing the subsequent pages that will show you the entire data set.

If you would like to see a bear sightings map for your community, or if you need more information about how your community can become a part of the Bear Aware network you can email me by clicking here.

Please note: Maps may be unavailable periodically as we update and deal with web server issues. Please be patient as we work through the technical issues.
